Chuck Berger is struggling even with his “dead air” time in the middle of the night on public radio in Estonia, where he and his wife Helena live. When he finds a tumor just after learning Helena wants to leave him, he realizes that he must make a choice: to fight for his marriage, or fight for his life, which he considers not worth living alone. To quote Chuck, “First I lost my ball, then I lost my chain.”
Forging an unlikely bond with his station manager, Hendrik, who wants to fire Chuck, he decides to let his handful of listeners choose his fate, and hilarity ensues. Chuck quickly discovers the power of comedy, as he seeks to conquer his own instincts by baring his soul on the air, and in doing so sees the skyrocketing success of the Chuck Band Show.
